About the artist
Kelly Christensen
Painter & Visual Artist
Kelly Christensen is a Canadian painter and visual artist based in Alberta, whose work spans acrylic, watercolour, and mixed media. His paintings move between the representational and the abstract — landscapes that dissolve into colour fields, figures that blur into their surroundings, and still lifes that hum with an almost electric energy.
Largely self-taught, Kelly has developed a distinctive visual language built on layering, texture, and an intuitive sense of colour. He is drawn to the moment when a painting stops being a description of something and starts being a thing in itself — alive, unresolved, and open to interpretation.
His work is held in private collections across Canada and is available as original paintings, limited edition prints, and commissions. He exhibits regularly in Alberta and sells prints through ArtPal.
Creative philosophy
"I make paintings that hold still long enough to mean something."
Every painting begins with a question I can't answer any other way. The process is slow, physical, and often surprising — I follow the paint as much as I lead it. What interests me most is the tension between control and accident, between what I intend and what the work decides to become.
